Children - “Too Obese for Booster Seat”
March 19th, 2008 · Filed Under: Childhood Obesity · Inspiration · Obesity In The News · Obliterate Obesity Motivation · Obliterate Obesity Workouts
I just came across this headline in the news yesterday:
“A study by accident researchers in Melbourne (Australia) has found that almost 40 per cent of children who meet the height criteria for booster seats are too heavy to use them. ”

So what are parents doing about it? I would hope that they are taking a serious look at what they are feeding to these youngsters and trying everything that they can to get their weight under control.
However, this is what the researchers have found during their study:
Parents are instead restraining overweight and obese youngsters with adult seatbelts, a dangerous alternative that leaves them more vulnerable to injury in an accident.
Where do you think the change needs to happen?! What are you willing to do to help these little youngsters have a brighter future? Where do you think the blame lies?
Listen people….This is a global epidemic. Children are more obese/overweight than ever before. The numbers keep climbing and if you and I don’t do our part to make a change happen, we will all suffer. I know this sounds cliche but they are our future.
When you see a little 3 year old at the waterpark with their belly hanging out, who do you blame? I’m just curious. Did that little person decide to eat at McDonald’s 3x/week, did he/she ask for a frozen (processed & fat laden) dinner last night for dinner?
If you ask me, parents/caregivers need to step up to the plate and take an ACTIVE ROLE in getting their children at a healthy weight.
Yes, it’s a different society today. Both parents working (majority)…the ‘techno’ world has played a huge impact on the amount of sitting on our ‘behinds’…people in general are getting larger every year.
Scott and I are passionate about obliterating the obesity epidemic. We are working on doing all that we can to bring awareness to it and to help people to get on the path of healthy eating and living. We have just started a ‘walk’ on every Saturday here in our community. We are looking forward to seeing the number of walkers CLIMB as the weeks move on. People can UNITE to make a difference.
As a parent, you are a very POWERFUL ROLE MODEL to your children, especially while they are living with you. He/she will adopt your behaviours and attitudes without you even realizing it. Think about this in terms of food and exercise.
I think it’s time NOW, more than ever before, that you get serious about the kind of lifestyle you are living. Do you wish you had more energy to run and play with your kids? Do your children suffer the effects of obesity/overweight issues? Do you want to help them to get healthy and feel better about themselves?
We have an excellent audio product that will put you in the right frame of mind and inspire you beyond belief. The Unstoppable Fat Loss program is packed with 21 interviews of different people that have their own unique story about how they reached success in life and fitness. It is truly inspiring.
Further, we only hear incredible success stories from the ladies in our program, The Fit Chic Year of Workouts. This is not a quick fix product. It is, however, the real deal. Achieving a healthy lifestyle is something you want for LIFE. This is what you can achieve by doing our 20 min. workouts and of course doing cardio on your own.
Let’s work together to stop the Childhood Obesity epidemic by starting with YOU!

Hey Angie,
Yes it is very sad that kids are becoming too obese for booster seats in Australia. And what you said is true its a global issue and parents do need to step up and take action. We can not wait for governments, fast food industries or technology to change, we need to look after our kids right now and live a healthy life in our home everyday.
I think its awesome to hear you guys have started a community walk in your area. It’s great to see you making a difference.
